Concha

CONCHA is a series of small paintings inspired by the myth of Lilith and what she symbolizes. Lilith represents the archetype of a nonconformist, rebellious woman who rejects conventional norms and refuses to submit. She embodies the woman who refuses to conform to the patriarchal society’s expectations, as any imposed rule that conflicts with her desires only angers her and drives her towards the pursuit of freedom. She also represents the silenced and marginalized woman who was demonized and forced into the shadows to discourage other women from following her example.

CONCHA seeks to reclaim the depiction of the vulva in its different forms and variations from a male-dominated perspective that often objectifies and sexualizes it. Instead, these paintings aim to empower women to embrace and celebrate their bodies, challenging the shame and stigma that often surrounds female sexuality.
