Muda
MUDA is a deeply personal series of self-portraits that was born out of a deep-seated desire to reconnect with myself that started with a defeated silence and ended up unexpectedly sending me on another journey of self-discovery.
It depicts myself wearing some of the clothes that I had not been able to wear for a year, and is a methaphor for how being limited to express myself through my clothing was a reflection of how I was loosing my own self expression in other areas of my life. I was losing my voice and I wanted it back.
As an omen, the process of painting MUDA brought changes that were not in the plan: change of house, change of country, change of job, change of routine, change of life. After a long period of silence, MUDA emerged as a powerful testament to the transformative power of self-expression and the beauty of embracing one’s true self.
